Democrats, the Party of Moral Values

Looks like the Republican Party's losing the culture war. In a New York Times/CBS poll, more respondents thought that Democrats reflected their moral values.

When asked, "Does the Republican Party or the Democratic Party come closer to sharing your moral values?" 38% answered Republican, 47% answered Democratic, 6% answered neither, and 2% answered both equally.

Seventy-nine percent of respondents said House Republican leaders were more concerned about their political standing than about the safety of teenage Congressional pages. About half of respondents said that the House Republican leadership had improperly handled the Foley case, compared with 27 percent who said they approved of how it was handled; 46 percent of respondents said Speaker J. Dennis Hastert of Illinois should step down. And Americans are more likely to say that Democrats, and not Republicans, share their moral values.

While the piece puts the blame on Foley, I'm sure that other scandals and the party's enthusiastic support of torture share some of the blame -- who's values include government corruption and torture?
