Putting Out Fires With Gasoline -- Guns as a Cure for Violence

Let me coin a truism; "There are two kinds of people in Wisconsin -- those who have their shit together and gun nuts."

The Capital Times:

In a rare show of unanimity, both Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle and his Republican challenger, U.S. Rep. Mark Green, are condemning a Republican lawmaker's proposal to allow teachers and other school employees to carry guns at work.

Rep. Frank Lasee, R-Bellevue, says he will introduce a bill next year to allow teachers, principals, school custodians and other employees to carry concealed weapons on school premises if they complete a training course and are licensed.

Lasee said his proposal is a response to a spate of school violence, including last week's fatal shooting of Weston School Principal John Klang.

"This is a serious proposal to make our schools safer," he said in an interview.

Serious proposal, my ass. Lasee and a group of would-be John Waynes in the capital have been trying to get more guns into the hands of people any way they can -- despite opposition from police organizations, city and town leaders, teachers, physicians, clergy, and just about anyone with an ounce of brains.

This is just a back door to a broadening of their plan to arm just about everyone. Lasee believes that if he can get this through, later on he'll be able to point to it and say, "See? Nothing happened..."

Unless something does -- then he'll ignore it and point to some other pile of horseshit to back his agenda.

Lasee and his posse keep saying that more guns equals less crime, but if that were true, Wisconsin would be among the most violent states in the nation -- being one of the few without concealed carry. As it is, we're one of the safest.

C'mon guys, this is Wisconsin. What 'problem' are you trying to fix?
