The Quote of My Day

I came across this in my local paper, The Capital Times. Columnist Rob Zaleski interviewed the 81 year old cashier from Mickie's Dairy Bar, a Madison landmark across the street from the stadium at Camp Randall on the University of Wisconsin campus. Mickie's has been around forever -- an old diner that serves pancakes so big they hang off the edge of the plate. Hank Reese has worked there for 59 years. Here's what jumped out at me.

"Of course, the kids the UW gets now are the pick of the litter. And there's no longer a draft, so that takes a lot of pressure off them. Somebody else is doing the fighting. They actually should be bitching about this lousy war, but at least we've slowed this president down a bit. He's a little squirrelly, I think - didn't qualify to be president to start with. Enough of this father and son stuff, right?"

I would've never thought to describe Bush as squirrelly, but danged if it doesn't fit.
