The Stuff I Didn't Get To -- 1/26/07

-Drunk driver calls drunk lawyer-
When former Dane County Supervisor Patrick DePula was arrested for drunken driving, he did the right thing -- he called his lawyer. His lawyer, Madison, WI atty. Rick Petri understood his client's situation extremely well. Apparently on the way to meet DePula, Petri was picked up for the same crime. Petri blew 0.09, just enough to score a charge -- WI's limit is 0.08. Clearly, this is one lawyer who couldn't -- or wouldn't -- pass the bar. (The Capital Times)

-A smarter VP than Cheney-
Iraqi Vice President Adel Abdul Mahdi speaking of the US invasion of his country at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland; "Iraq was put under occupation, which was an idiot decision." (Reuters via HuffPo)

-Fired for not being 'on fire for Jesus'-
Atticus O. Firey alleges that the an Irvine, CA car wax company fired him in a case of religious discrimination. Firey says Meguiar's Inc. President Barry Meguiar repeatedly told him to attend church and that he was "robbing this company of the blessing of God by not being on your knees and on fire for Jesus." The suit alleges that employees at the company were hired and fired based on their religious beliefs. With a business plan like that, I'm sure it was Firey not going to church that was the company's biggest problem. (L.A. Times)

-Biden to declare wednesday-
The rumor mill has it that Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE) will declare his candidacy for president on wednesday. This has to be the most exciting announcement since former WI governor Tommy Thompson's. (Political Insider)
