World to Bush: 'You Suck'

The US has suffered a serious decline in world opinion -- and the BBC has the numbers to prove it.

The view of the US's role in the world has deteriorated both internationally and domestically, a BBC poll suggests.

The World Service survey, conducted in 25 nations including the US, found that three in four respondents disapproved of how Washington has dealt with Iraq.

The majority of the 26,381 respondents also disapproved of the way five other foreign policy areas have been handled.

The poll, released ahead of President Bush's State of the Union speech, was conducted between November and January.

Bush's handling of Iraq earned him 79% disapproval. Only 29% believe the US is a positive influence in the world. 67% disapprove of the treatment of detainees at Guantanamo. 65% disapproved of handling of the Israel-Hizbollah conflict. 60% disapprove of Bush's handling of Iran's nuclear program. 56% disapprove of the US position on global warming. 54% disapprove of Bush's handling of talks with N. Korea.

On the question of US troops in the middle east in general, 68% said it "provokes more conflict than it prevents."

Before he became president, George W. Bush promised he'd be a 'uniter, not a divider.' He should've told us he'd be uniting the world in opposition to the US.
