GOP Donor Accused of Funding Terrorism

We're often told during any given election that 'the terrorists want democrats to win.' This talking point ignores the fact that the war in Iraq benefits only corporations and terrorists. Iraq was a godsend for groups like al Qaeda, allowing them to point to the unprovoked invasion of a muslim nation and use it as 'proof' that the west is out to either colonize the middle east or destroy Islam altogether.

And now, there's a story in ABC News' The Blotter which shows that not only do terrorists oppose democrats, but that one terrorist funder is also a GOP funder.

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) won't say what it plans to do with thousands of dollars in campaign donations it received from an accused terror financier.

Abdul Tawala Ibn Ali Alishtari gave $15,250 to the NRCC since 2002, according to FEC records published on the Web site opensecrets.org.

On Friday, Alishtari pled not guilty to funding terrorism and other crimes, including financial fraud.

The indictment for Alishtari shows he's accused of "providing material support to terrorists by transferring $152,000 between banks to allegedly be used to purchase night-vision goggles and other equipment needed for a terrorist training camp."

Still think terrorists hope for dem wins? They've got a screwy way of showing it. Alishtari was a life member of the NRCC's 'Inner Circle' and "was named New York State Businessman of the Year by the group in 2003 and 2004." He also claims to have been appointed to the 'USNRCC White House Business Advisory Group.'

One talking point meets its grave...
