-It's an honor just to be nominated-
Right wing think tank Landmark Legal Foundation nominated Rush Limbaugh for the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his "tireless efforts to promote liberty, equality and opportunity for all mankind, regardless of race, creed, economic stratum or national origin." Somehow, I doubt the man who said, "Why should Blacks be heard? They're 12% of the population. Who the hell cares?" will be taking home the medallion. (Think Progress)
-The NFL hates Jesus-
Indianapolis' Fall Creek Baptist Church has cancelled its Super Bowl party plans after getting a nastygram from the NFL. After advertising they'd show the game on a projection TV, the NFL informed them that the "law limits it to one TV no bigger than 55 inches." The reason; it doesn't help the ratings. "'We have contracts with our (TV) networks to provide free over-the-air television for people at home,' [NFL spokesprick Greg] Aiello said. 'The network economics are based on television ratings and at-home viewing. Out-of-home viewing is not measured by Nielsen.'" Good thinking, this whole Super Bowl thing wouldn't make a dime otherwise... (Associated Press)
Too bad all his plans aren't this good-
President Bush to NHL champions Carolina Hurricanes; "I like to be around people that keep expectations low." Golly, I wonder why? (Raw Story)
-Wookiee assaults tour guide-
"A man dressed as Chewbacca was arrested after police said the street performer head-butted a tour guide operator in front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood." Frederick Evan Young, 44 and 6'4", was 'harassing and touching tourists' in front of Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood. It's common for street performers to dress up in costumes and charge tourists for pictures. Security guards escorted Young off the property, but he got one last lick in at the guide before they tossed him. "Nobody tells this Wookiee what to do," Young said. (Associated Press)
