GOP Voters Favor 'None of the Above'

Looks like GOP voters aren't all that into GOP candidates. The latest poll numbers are bad news for the Republican Party in '08. Here's an AP/Ipsos poll, courtesy of MoJo Blog (emphasis theirs):

Other/None/Don't Know 25%
Rudy Giuliani 21%
Fred Thompson 19%
John McCain 15%
Mitt Romney 11%
Newt Gingrich 5%
Mike Huckabee 3%

As MoJo writer Jonathan Stein puts it, "And that's with Thompson and Gingrich in the race. There is no 'other' left!"

The fact that a full quarter of Republican voters prefer 'none of the above' is probably due to the fact that all of the GOP candidates are carefully avoiding the issues. Who needs to talk about Iraq or gummint corruption when there are things like John Edwards' hair or which candidate remembers Ronald Reagan best to babble on at length about?

No one's going to vote for someone who doesn't give them anything to vote for.
