Gonzo is so Gone

From the Cox News Service:

In the end, which came Monday for Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, his ticket in was his ticket out.

Loyalty is what President Bush always liked about the migrant workers' son he picked for five key government jobs, topped by attorney general, a post that made him the highest ranking Hispanic in U.S. history.

And loyalty - too much of it- is what Gonzales' critics were concerned about when Bush named him attorney general after the 2004 election.

Gonzales, critics said, is just a man who can't say no to the man who made him what he is.

The problem with Gonzo's loyalty is that he pledged allegiance every morning, not to the nation, but to George W. Bush. He made no decisions, held no beliefs, pursued no courses of action, which weren't at the very core meant to aid the White House.

That wasn't his job. His job was to be the top law enforcement officer in the US. It's a lousy cop who has no use for the rule of law.

I prefer to see Alberto Gonzales gone and behind bars, but just gone is good enough. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, Fredo.
