Right Wing Moron Says Food Network's Rachael Ray a Terrorist

Just when you think these people can't become more ridiculous or more boobish, they prove you wrong. There is, apparently, no lower limit to how stupid and absurd these dopes are willing to be.

There've always been a lot of people who've criticized Rachael Ray, the bubbly Food Network host. I'm one of them. Still, I can't say I ever thought anyone would get overwrought enough about Ray to actually accuse her of "mainstreaming terrorism." Then again, I hadn't counted on Charles Johnson, who runs the right-wing blog Little Green Footballs.

Ray provoked Johnson's ire with an online ad she's in for Dunkin' Donuts in which she can be seen wearing a keffiyeh, a traditional item of clothing in the Arab world. In a post headlined, "Mainstreaming Terrorism to Sell Donuts," Johnson writes, "I didn’t believe this story when people first started emailing about it; but sure enough, its true. Dunkin Donuts, the venerable old fried dough seller, is the latest American firm to casually promote the symbol of Palestinian terrorism and the intifada, the kaffiyeh, via Rachael Ray."

- Nowhere did he say that she herself is a terrorist.

- The black/white scarf she was wearing is the traditional kaffiyeh used by Palestinian terrorists, and symbolizes the intifadah (AKA, kill every Jew in sight).

My mistake. The kaffiyeh is usually checkered. They are awfully similar though.

Two points.

One, she's wearing a kaffiyeh -- who freakin' cares? Why is it even worth commenting on? From my experience with LGF, Johnson's a bigoted ass.

Two, about that those terrible Palestinians and the second intifadah.

University of Wisconsin Historian Robert Weitzel brings up an uncomfortable fact; "According to a United Nations report, 971 Palestinian and Israeli children were killed between September 2000 -- the beginning of the second intifada -- and July 2007. Of those destroyed children, 854 were Palestinian."

Its worth commenting on because mainstreaming a symbol that represents terrorism is not the greatest thing in the world to do. Bu like I said, it turns out it wasn't a kaffiyeh.

How many Palestinian children died after the Palestinians began their Intifadah is irrelevant, and a fallacious (albeit convincing) argument. You're basically giving the Palestinians credit because they haven't killed as many Israeli children as they were trying to.

Oh yea, not to mention a large chunk of those Palestinian children died from attacks of other Palestinians. Fatah and Hamas were fighting each other, hard. And many Palestinian missles landed on Palestinian territory (accidentally) and resulted in a lot of deaths.

A Million Palestinians Threatened with Starvation by Israel

The Israelis already have the Gaza Strip under military siege, carefully controlling what and who goes in and out of it. They have now cut off most fuel, and the United Nations has been forced to stop distributing food aid.

This Israeli government action is an unvarnished war crime. It is known as collective punishment. There was already hunger and malnutrition among Palestinian children, which will now be worsened.

Juan Cole's opinions don't interest me, and your telegraph link is not working - it just goes to the front page of the website.

Anyway, none of what you quoted (even if it was true), makes Palestinian terrorism in any way shape or form, acceptable behavior. So other than claiming that Israel does things that are wrong, you really aren't saying anything relevant.

Really? So given that Palestinians are regularly subject to war crimes, human rights abuses, and institutional racism doesn't explain Palestinian unrest?

No wonder "Juan Cole's opinions don't interest" you -- you're not accustomed to empathy or rational thought.

Typical of a LGF apologist; opinions are arrived at with jerking knees and those opinions are never given even a moment's thought.

Like I said, nothing justifies Palestinian terrorism, or any terrorism for that matter.

I'm not capable of empathy or rational thought, yet you are defending people who are mostly either involved with or support massacres against innocent civilians.

And I'm not empathetic? Please.

Boy, do you ever need a history lesson. Israel was founded using terrorism.

I'm not capable of empathy or rational thought, yet you are defending people who are mostly either involved with or support massacres against innocent civilians.

You mean like this?

Amnesty Slams Israel "War Crimes"

The rights group's report for 2004 says Israeli forces have killed some 700 Palestinians - including 150 children - mostly in unlawful circumstances.

The report lists "reckless shooting, shelling and air strikes in civilian areas... and excessive use of force".

It also condemns the killing of Israeli civilians by Palestinian militants and violence by Jewish settlers.

"Certain abuses committed by the Israeli army constituted crimes against humanity and war crimes," Amnesty's report says.

"The deliberate targeting of civilians by Palestinian armed groups constituted crimes against humanity," it adds.

You're often selective in your outrage. Israel is hardly a blameless victim.

Besides, when you say I'm "defending people who are mostly either involved with or support massacres against innocent civilians," you're making the assumption that there's no such thing as an innocent Palestinian.

If this your grasp of reality, then you're completely deluded. I'm not going to be able to set you straight; that's going to take some sort of therapy or medication.

I said "mostly," that does not include every single one. And yes, most Palestinians support terrorism. 84% of them supported the Mercaz Ha Rav Massacre.

Criticism of Israel's alleged war crimes is highly irrelevant to any comment I've made throughout this conversation, and like I said, does not justify Palestinian terrorism.
