What if Obama Really Were a Muslim?

The Wisconsin State Journal's Ajuman Ali takes on the idea that lying about Obama's faith represents a 'smear.' The idea that a Muslim isn't fit for the presidency is bigoted and stupid -- and it's an idea that all the candidates should attack.

clipped from www.madison.com To me, as a Muslim, this fear of Islam and Muslims is laughable, even as it is insulting and disturbing. There are more than 8,000 Muslims in Wisconsin and at least 5 million in the United States. Most live peaceful and productive lives. They follow their faith and abide by the secular laws of this state and this nation. As this campaign progresses, Obama, Clinton, presumptive Republican presidential candidate U.S. Sen. John McCain and others should fight these attempts at fear mongering and bigotry. They should condemn these attacks against one person — Obama — and the underlying prejudice that tars an entire group.
