Boehner Gets Pissy over Stimulus

In a speech before the House Friday, GOP Leader John Boehner brought out the theatrics to illustrate his opposition to the stimulus bill. Holding aloft the 1,100-page bill, Boehner said that "not one member has read this" before dropping the document on the floor.

Watch the video.

A couple of points here. One, Republicans have been awfully specific in their criticism of a bill that no one's supposedly read. Two, he was awfully quiet about this problem when the house voted on the Patriot Act -- which, coincidentally, no one had read.

But, if we turn to the report at Raw Story. we get the real complaint.

"Our [Republican] ideas weren't considered," Boehner said. "We weren't allowed in the room. We weren't allowed to participate at all. And all the talk about bipartisanship that we have heard over the last several months went down the drain."
Those Republican ideas weren't considered because they were Hooverish lunacy. While freaking out about the deficit, the GOP offered an "alternative" that was nothing but tax cuts. Republicans were willing to vote for this and nothing else.

When you're unwilling to compromise, you don't get to complain that the other side didn't negotiate with you.
