Court Strikes Down Iowa Gay Marriage Ban; Religious Right Goes Nuts

It doesn't take long for the religious right to completely freak out over any victory for the Homosexual Menace, as the Family Research Council's Tony Perkins proves in a press release about the court decision on same sex marriage in Iowa.

Tony Perkins"Same-sex 'marriage' continues to be a movement driven by a liberal judicial elite determined to destroy not only the institution of marriage, but democracy as well. The casual dismissal of the facts of human biology and thousands of years of human history, simply to pander to a small band of social radicals, is bizarre and indefensible," said Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council (FRC).

How is the Homosexual Menace and their liberal judicial elite destroying the family and democracy? Perkins says "four states have attempted to legalize same-sex 'marriage' through the judicial process, to date none have done so democratically, while a majority of states have not only defined marriage as the union of one man and one woman, but have placed that definition in their state constitution."

So the will of the people is being thwarted. But this begs the question; what can't a majority vote accomplish? If some state voted to ban Christianity, you can bet Perkins would be the first running to the courthouse to have the law overturned -- majority vote be damned. And no one would argue that Perkins and his FRC were trying to "destroy democracy," because that would be an insane statement.

It's scary enough that Perkins thinks he's making a pretty good argument, but what's even scarier is that he probably believes it.
