Marriage Equality Comes to Maine

Today's good news brought to you by the state of Maine.

MSNBC:

Same sex couples marryMaine's Gov. John Baldacci signed a bill into law allowing same-sex marriage in his state. Maine becomes the fifth state to do so. The other four: Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts and Vermont.

"In the past, I opposed gay marriage while supporting the idea of civil unions," Baldacci said in a statement. "I have come to believe that this is a question of fairness and of equal protection under the law, and that a civil union is not equal to civil marriage."

Yet another state falls to the Homosexual Menace and society fails to collapse, people don't demand the right to marry their dogs, and families are no worse off than they've ever been. The religious right, because of all their fearmongering over this issue, are looking more and more delusional every day. And that makes them more and more irrelevant every day. Turns out it's not the gays who were crazy all this time, but all those freaked out people waving Bibles.
