Grassley Kills Nonexistent 'Death Panels'

Can't say I understand what the point of this is.

The Hill:

Charles GrassleyThe Senate Finance Committee will drop a controversial provision on consultations for end-of-life care from its proposed healthcare bill, its top Republican member said Thursday.

The committee, which has worked on putting together a bipartisan healthcare reform bill, will drop the controversial provision after it was derided by conservatives as "death panels" to encourage euthanasia.

"On the Finance Committee, we are working very hard to avoid unintended consequences by methodically working through the complexities of all of these issues and policy options," Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said in a statement. "We dropped end-of-life provisions from consideration entirely because of the way they could be misinterpreted and implemented incorrectly."

So they're dropping a good idea because crazy people might "misinterpret" it? Gosh, I wonder where they'd get crazy ideas about it.

But here's the thing -- it's not going to make a damned bit of difference. The only reason these people are buying this "death panel" bullshit is because they want to buy this "death panel" bullshit. It wasn't in there before, so why is pretending to take it out going to make any difference? It's not; the nuts are still going to say health care reform's all about killing grandma.

And Grassley also took the opportunity to take some potshots at a house bill. "The bill passed by the House committees is so poorly cobbled together that it will have all kinds of unintended consequences, including making taxpayers fund healthcare subsidies for illegal immigrants," he said. "Maybe others can defend a bill like the Pelosi bill that leaves major issues open to interpretation, but I can't."

Great. More bullshit from Grassley. Pretend to kill one wingnut conspiracy theory, then go ahead and feed another. Tell me how you "misinterpret" this without being a goddam moron:

No Federal Payment for Undocumented Aliens. Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.

If this is the way he's going to play this, I can't think of a single reason not to declare hope of a bipartisan bill dead. He's clearly negotiating in bad faith. Screw Chuck Grassley.

The debate, or "discussion," is being lost to gibbering marginalized obstructionists like Chuck Grassley and unemployed crazy lady Sarah Palin.

They're using armed intimidation, threats of violence and bloody imagery from pre-Constitution times, out and out racism, birther-ism to de-legitimize a duly and lawfully elected president(some say to specifically plant doubts in the military)-- screaching irrationality and lies so ridiculous they're scaring little kids.

Kids that Fox and Malkin are now stalking, and by default threatening, like the 11 year old girl who had the nerve to actually be called to ask a question of the president who had the temerity to inspire her and her family, as he did with 69 million Americans and millions more around the world.

Two words for that lying hypocritical sack of suck, Chuck Grassley.

Terri Schiavo, motherfucker.
