Wingut favorite WorldNetDaily backs away from earlier reporting that they had proof that Barack Obama was really a secret llegal alien Muslim terr'ist. Bonus, the announcement is made by Jerome Corsi, whose profession is best described as "bullshitter for hire." When something's not good enough for this crowd, that's a pretty bad forgery. After all, WingNutDaily has previously reported on the imminent public showing of the Ark of the Covenant, as well as the shocking news that Hillary Clinton would put Christians into prison camps if she became president. So it's sort of surprising that a story's too crazy even for them.
Turns out that a Kenyan birth certificate for Barack Obama isn't as convincing as they first thought it was. First off, it was issued before there was a Republic of Kenya and was signed by someone who shares a name with a popular soap ("E.F. Lavender" or "Earth Friendly Lavender"), so there's that. Then they sent out their "investigative operatives in Africa" (??) and they told them their story didn't look very good. So much for that then.
Not that WND is wising up. They don't do that.
If you check their front page today, you see the ironic headline "Birther obsession of the left." Why is this ironic? Because that same page includes links to fourteen birther stories and pages, including a link where you can buy bumperstickers that ask, "WHERE'S THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE?"
