Rep. Bob Inglis hurt Glenn Beck's feelings

"GOP congressman jeered for telling people to stop watching Glenn Beck."

The problem with good advice is that you can't make people take it. South Carolina Rep. Bob Inglis learned this the hard way when he told a wingnut crowd that watching a certain televised lunatic might be bad for your head. "Inglis said that he was against the health care policies being advocated by the Obama administration and 'won applause for advocating medical liability reform,'" the report tells us. "However, the crowd revolted when Inglis told people to 'turn the TV off' and stop listening to Glenn Beck."

So this is who's running the GOP now, Glenn Freakin' Beck? Maybe we ought to start putting anti-psychotic drugs in the water or something, because there's a significant portion of the population who are just squirrelly. (Think Progress)


-Fuck me, but these people are dumb-
Paul Krugman has a column out about the health care reform non-debate and the teabaggers who think that government-run health care is a secret Nazi plot to destroy America with socialism. Turns out, they're really freakin' dumb. He provides an example:

There was a telling incident at a town hall held by Representative Gene Green, D-Tex. An activist turned to his fellow attendees and asked if they "oppose any form of socialized or government-run health care." Nearly all did. Then Representative Green asked how many of those present were on Medicare. Almost half raised their hands.

In other words, "Git yer filthy gummint hands off my Medicare!"

I guess stupid is a pre-existing condition. (New York Times)


-Hit them where they live-
FOX News and Glenn Beck took a little financial hit when three advertisers pulled their ads after Beck called President Obama a racist. The advertisers, LexisNexis-owned Lawyers.com, Procter & Gamble, and Progressive Insurance, apparently don't share that opinion and don't want it to seem like they share that opinion.

A FOX spokesperson denies that this will hurt revenues from the show, as three other advertisers have stepped forward to replace them. From now on, Babbling in a Fetal Position with Glenn Beck will be sponsored by Dr. Loopy's Home Room-Rubberization, Global Cool Ranch-Flavored Lead Paint Chips, and the website FascinatedByShinyObjects.com.
