There's Now No Reason to Let Lieberman Caucus with Democrats

Anyone surprised by this is a fool.

Politico:

Joementum and GWB make outSen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) said Tuesday that he’d back a GOP filibuster of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s health care reform bill.

Lieberman, who caucuses with Democrats and is positioning himself as a fiscal hawk on the issue, said he opposes any health care bill that includes a government-run insurance program — even if it includes a provision allowing states to opt out of the program, as Reid’s has said the Senate bill will.

"We're trying to do too much at once," Lieberman said. “To put this government-created insurance company on top of everything else is just asking for trouble for the taxpayers, for the premium payers and for the national debt. I don’t think we need it now."

Lieberman added that he’d vote against a public option plan “even with an opt-out because it still creates a whole new government entitlement program for which taxpayers will be on the line."

What a worthless, worthless tool Joe Lieberman is. And what a stupid move. There's now no reason at all not to strip him of his committees and toss him out of the party. The only reason to hold onto Lieberman was for that theoretically "filibuster-proof" majority. If they can't even get that out of him, I can't think of one damned reason not to fire his sorry ass out of the caucus.

Thanks Connecticut. Great fucking job.

UPDATE: Friend of the blog Chandler McGrew shared a post at My Left Nutmeg that shows there is no congressional district in Connecticut that doesn't have majority support for a public option.

So who's Joementum representing here? Certainly not the people who elected him.

Awe...

Joe's been left out of the Olympia Snowe/Chuck Grassley courtship.

Joe remembers a time when he was the star of the democratic party's focus for vote wrangling. The prize pig everyone wanted slop.

I knew this was going to be the case with Lieberman.

You don't run around the country with McCain and Palin supporting their batshit crazy agenda for months and months while demonizing Barack Obama as a candidate "not like the rest of us" and "dangerous" and then expect his "better" judgement during a crisis of conservative making to simply do the right thing.

He should have been stripped right away. Elections have consequences and Joe Lieberman should have been the very first consequence.

This is what you get when you underestimate your enemies.

And Joe Lieberman is, and has been for a long time, an enemy.

It's the Joementum Show and he wants us all to stand and applaud his fucked up principles.

I heard the audio of his statement earlier. To listen to Joe give his opinion on a matter that's crippling the nation's debt restructuring and bankrupting millions of people is excruciating.

My ears want to die now.
