News Roundup for 10/9/09

According to Sarah Palin, this guy's a Jesus-hater

-Headline of the day-
"Palin sees conspiracy in new dollar coins."

The former Mayor of Santa's Village gave a speech in Wisconsin to people who've been driven crazy by Bret Favre. The subject of her speech was apparently "Things That Are Awesome and Things That Are Bogus" and among the bogus is Barack HUSSEIN Obama's attempt to slowly sneak "In God We Trust" off dollar coins.

"Noting that there had been a lot of 'change' of late, Palin recalled a recent conversation with a friend about how the phrase 'In God We Trust' had been moved to the edge of the new coins," reports Politico's Jonathan Martin.

"Who calls a shot like that?" she asked the audience, who didn't know either. "Who makes a decision like that?... It’s a disturbing trend."

Here's the thing, when government does stuff like pass laws, someone usually writes down the who and when and why, so you can answer questions like Sarah's. She probably doesn't know that, since she quit being the Governor before they got to that chapter in the Big Book O' Governance.

Turns out the people who made that call weren't secret illegal alien Muslim terr'ists. They were Republicans in Congress and they wrote this here law that was signed by that big commie George W. Bush. It was switched back in 2007.

This speech cost cheesehead wingnuts $30 to attend. In return for the ticket price, they got priceless insights like that above and whatever the hell this was supposed to be; "It is so bogus that society is sending a message right now and has been for probably the last 40 years that a woman isn’t strong enough or smart enough to be able to pursue an education, a career and her rights and still let her baby live."

Seriously, that's a direct quote. According to the report, the audience couldn't get out of there fast enough.

In the future, if Wisconsinites really want to make themselves dumber, they can save a lot of money by bashing themselves in the skull with a brick. Because -- I can guarantee -- no one could expose themselves to that much stupid without shaving a couple two-three points off their IQ. (Raw Story)

-At least they're recycling-
What's the GOP stance on the climate bill? The same as their stance on healthcare reform.

I can't believe I forgot about Don Asmussen's Bad Reporter... These things are gold. (Bad Reporter)

-Bonus HotD-
"Westboro Baptist Church Protests Outside Obama Girls' School."

Rev. Fred Phelps and his merry band of hate-fueled lunatics have decided that protesting Sasha's and Malia's school would be a great way to advance their agenda -- which is basically getting themselves on the teevee machine and having people yell at them. Call them the Attention-Whore Brigade.

If they get enough press, expect Joe Lieberman to get jealous, grab a sign, and join them. No one's allowed to get more time in front of a TV camera in DC than Joe Lieberman. I think it's a law. (Talking Points Memo)
