Stories to Watch: 10/10/12

Florida nutjob Terry Jones really is becoming the anti-Islam Fred Phelps.

Associated Press apologizes for publishing the most captionable photo ever.

Gallup's tracker has Romney's bounce retreating further. Obama and his Republican rival are now tied. Bad news for Team Romney; Obama's approvals remain above 50%. I'm thinking the right will start in again with their poll denialism any day now. I can even imagine how they'll rationalize the brief period of good Romney polling: "They were cooking the polls and we called them out on it, so they stopped. Then they thought the coast was clear and they started again, because socialism and Saul Alinsky and dead voters in Chicago spreading Sharia law through free abortions!" Something like that anyway.

More evidence of Romney deflation -- a whole slew of swing state polls, with Obama ahead in all but one, which is a tie. And that includes three from Rasmussen, which leans right. Meanwhile, Major Garrett reports that Obama internals are in and "revealed that Obama was not in free fall, as some feared, but that his support has returned to where it was in July and August."

Rep. Scott DesJarlais of Tennessee is definitely the Hypocrite of the Day -- and may very well be Hypocrite of the Decade.

Fun new conspiracy theory: Pres. Obama came up short in the presidential debate because he was high on drugs.

The mother of a slain Navy SEAL bashes Mitt Romney for using her son as a political football.

ThinkProgress's pre-VP debate primer.

Mitt Romney's flip-flopping on his flip-flops now.

Finally, George Zimmerman's brother seemed to think that a twitter rant, complete with threats to destroy the prosecuting attorney's career, would be helpful to his brother's case. He was so wrong.
