Stories to Watch: 10/12/12

In what is easily the most classless attack ad in history by a country mile, the Florida Log Cabin Republicans use a photo of the body of slain Libyan Ambassador Chris Stevens, while trying to out him as gay. All in an effort to get the LGBT community to vote against Obama. I've always said that you'd have to be fucking crazy to be gay and Republican -- and this pretty much proves it. This is some seriously sick shit. And I don't mean the "it offends me" kind of sick, I mean the "get some help before you wind up in a clock tower with a rifle" kind of sick.

Today's swing state polling is not nearly as good for Obama as usual. Still, three of these are Rasmussen. Again, give it some time, let everything even out. And remember, two debates left and there's no way last night would be reflected in these.

Washington Post polling director Jon Cohen notes much of the post-debate state-level polling -- particularly among the more reliable organizations -- show little, if any, change in the race.

Relatedly, Greg Sargent writes that, because of the wave of advertising there, attitudes of swing staters toward Romney are pretty closed to fixed, having "hardened in these states to a much greater degree" than the rest of the country. Still, Nate Silver sees real vulnerabilities for Obama.

Yet another economist calls BS on Romney's tax plan. This time, it's former John McCain campaign adviser and Chief Economist at Moody's Economy Mark Zandi. Freakin' liberal commie!

David Barton expands on being a bullshit "historian" to also becoming a medical quack.

A new Romney ad attacks Obama for cutting spending. You just can't win with these guys.

Finally, 700,000 years in space doesn't get you far without rockets.
