Baldwin enters Senate chamber with Ron Johnson and Herb Kohl

Tammy Baldwin, formerly one of the most liberal members of the House of Representatives, is sworn in as the newest Senator from Wisconsin -- she'll undoubtedly be one of the most liberal members of that chamber as well. If you did a little dance when Russ Feingold lost his seat, you should be crying now. Some measure of sanity has been restored to the universe.


This absolutely a must read: Kevin Drum reports on how environmentalism -- in the form of restrictions on lead -- created a dramatic drop in crime rates, how "tough on crime" types took credit for it, and how a bit more concentration on lead removal from our environment could reduce crime more.
