Yoko Ono tweets the iconic photo she took of her husband's blood-spattered glasses after he was murdered by a gunman, adding the text, "Over 1,057,000 people have been killed by guns in the USA since John Lennon was shot and killed on 8 Dec 1980." Yesterday was their 44th wedding anniversary.

Harry Reid puts his weight behind expanded background checks.

A look back at how the right treated those who opposed the invasion of Iraq shows a familiar pattern; not only were pro-war folks stridently wrong at the tops of their lungs, but they mercilessly mocked those of us who were later proved right as peacenik fools and terrorist sympathizers. But that's just what they always do. Doubt me? Look at how they treat people worried about global warming. Today's conservatives aren't just ignorant and proud of it, they're contemptuous of those of us who aren't ignorant enough suit them; i.e., "HA! LIBTARDS!"

Apparently, being forced to play hide-and-seek with CNN has taught Rep. Michele Bachmann absolutely noting about the perils of slinging bullshit. In a speech on the House floor, Bachmann said Obamacare will "literally" kill women, children, and seniors. What proof does she have of this? Pffft! Proof. Who needs it? This is Rightwing World, where you just imagine it and it magically becomes true!

In a speech in Israel, Pres. Obama renewed his support for a Palestinian state, called on Palestinians to return to the peace process, and took care of a heckler.

Polling shows that anti-immigrant sentiments in the Republican Party aren't shared by Republican voters.

Ohio's Republican Governor John Kasich came out in support of civil unions today -- that opinion was short-lived.

Anti-immigrant nutbar, former Romney advisor, and Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach got what he's got coming to him. At hearing aimed at repealing a statute allowing children of undocumented immigrants to pay in-state tuition rates at state universities, Rep. Ponka-We Victors -- a member of the Tohono O’odham Nation of Arizona -- told Kobach, "I think it’s funny Mr. Kobach, because when you mention 'illegal immigrant,' I think of all of you." Shut him up and shut him down.

The House passes a government funding bill -- under sequester rules -- and sends it to the White House.

Finally, John McCain (along with Sen. Carl Levin) believes it's a fine time to throw a war. This time in Syria. So what else is new? It's always a great time to have a war in McCain World. Never mind that the rational is based on likely bullshit.
