Stories to Watch: 6/25/13

Kind of a short one today; I had a project that ran long, but I finally solved a recurring annoyance. As always, hover your cursor over the links to get the headlines.

Why the SCOTUS rulling on the Voting Rights Act is complete bullshit and legal nonsense: in writing for the majority, Chief Justice Roberts can't manage to explain exactly what part of the Constitution the VRA violates. The Atlantic's Andrew Cohen writes that the decision is Dred Scott-level lousy. May today's majority be forever remembered as the worst of a generation, at least. This was judicial activism at its very most blatant and ugly.

Justice Ginsburg is not pleased with the decision. Neither is the president. Neither are Democrats.

SCOTUS news has kind of overshadowed the president's big climate speech -- which is a shame, he was combative.

According to the latest poll, Anthony Weiner is now the frontrunner in the race for NYC mayor.

Finally, there's an honest to goodness filibuster going on in Texas right now -- not the lazy Senate version, but the real talk-for-hours kind -- and it is beautiful.
