Stories to Watch: 9/27/13

As expected, Ted Cruz's grandstanding fauxlibuster did nothing to stop Obamacare. He did, however, accomplish his real goal: as of this moment, Cruz is the frontrunner in the 2016 Republican presidential primary.

One of Cruz's lies comes back to haunt him.

While Republicans were busy dicking around and grandstanding, Pres. Obama made some serious headway in diplomacy with Iran.

A New Jersey judge that state must begin allowing same-sex marriages by the 21st of October. You can probably count on an appeal.

Somewhat related: Exxon will begin offering benefits to same-sex couples. You can expect the right to be strangely silent about that development, since Exxon signs a lot of rightwing "pundits'" paychecks and funds politicians' reelection campaigns.

After Pres. Obama warned people not to get information about the Affordable Care Act from Fox News, foxbots responded with a veritable avalanche of horseshit -- i.e., they panicked and proved him right.

Finally, NBC News will air a special series on the Affordable Care Act, explaining how to enroll, what it's all about, what people think about it, etc. For some reason, this is the worst thing ever!, despite the fact that reporting on what is the biggest American political story right now seems like the most obvious thing in the world.
