Bonus: this is the relaunch of the neighborhood watch program that
Sanford police chief Cecil Smith ordered shut down in April, citing “no
accountability” and no training of watch members. Oddly, there’s no
mention of any accompanying crime wave, as an army of Skittles-mad
Trayvon Martin-types rushed in to take advantage of the absence of
vigilant sentries.
It seems that the neighborhood watch program doesn’t actually accomplish much of anything — other than to make unstable wannabe cops feel important. Sanford sailed along fine without them for months on end.
