Stories to Watch: 10/4/13

The fact that a TSA agent was targeted, shot, and killed on the job shows that we're way too focused on relatively rare terrorism, while almost totally unconcerned with a more common threat. And yes, Paul Anthony Ciancia's attack on airport security was politically motivated terrorism.

Bad news for gun nuts: the NRA's preferred approach to gun laws (AKA "no gun laws") is a political loser in Virginia.

Meanwhile, an Arkansas toddler accidentally shoots his dad in the back with a shotgun at the local Walmart, because having loaded guns all over the damned place makes everyone so safe.

Hey look, a brand new fake Obama "scandal."

Speaking of scandals, Rand Paul seems to be very concerned about the plagiarism scandal he currently finds himself embroiled in.

Ted Cruz's father Rafeal really is quite mad, you know. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Finally, a filibuster of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) fails in the Senate, which makes it illegal to discriminate in hiring based on sexual orientation. It now moves to the more homophobic House, where it's future may not be so bright.
