Stories to Watch: 12/6/13

Republicans are taking a little bit of a beating with the death of Nelson Mandela -- from both sides. Serves them right for praising an antiapartheid hero while doing things like working to suppress minority voting. And of course, in their feverish hatred of Mandela, the 'bagger base's naked racism is on full display. Lose/lose all around for the once pro-apartheid right.

Jonathan Chait points out that by backing the white supremacist apartheid regime in South Africa, American conservatives managed to be wrong about segregation twice in a row.

More anti-Mandela dickishness, this time from a podunk sheriff in South Carolina.

Louie Gohmert said something stupid again.

Kentucky's Democratic Governor Steve Beshear is not a huge fan of Mitch McConnell's lies about Obamacare, pointing out how it's helped the people of his state.

The Koch-funded American Legislative Exchange Council [ALEC] plans to demand that members pledge allegiance to ALEC industries -- literally. "I will act with care and loyalty and put the interests of the organization first," a draft loyalty oath reads. For the GOP, ALEC -- not America -- comes first. Again, literally.

Speaking of things that are literal, Raising Hope star Martha Plimpton reveals her keen political insights by calling Rick Santorum "literally the world's biggest douche b." Rightwing victim cards fly.

Finally, Healthcare.gov is well on its way to perfect functionality, no doubt leaving Republicans to wonder what they're going to do with their lives between now and November 2014.
