Stories to Watch: 2/7/14

To add insult to injury, West Virginians are seeing their water bills spike after a toxic chemical spill that's created a water crisis in that state. As always, it's privatize the profits and socialize the losses. The whole damned country is just a support system for a handful of way too rich jerks.

A CNN poll finds that Republicans are losing the woman vote in a landslide. 59% of all women believe the GOP is out of touch with them. Maybe the party would be better off just giving up this whole War on Women thing.

Former Florida governor and current gubernatorial candidate Charlie Christ says Gov. Rick Scott's refusal to expand Medicaid under Obamacare makes him responsible for "six deaths a day." I sense a PolitiFact ruling coming on that one, so keep your eyes out -- this could haunt other governors who've made the same shameful choice. Like the guy in the next item, fr'instance...

With Chris Christie pretty obviously out, many are saying that Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is now the frontrunner for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination. Tiny problem though: it's starting to become eminently clear that Walker's the target of a criminal probe over campaign finance skulduggery. Maybe they should start looking at possible candidates who aren't dogged by scandal?

On the subject of campaign finance; Liz Cheney wildly overstated her fundraising haul during her aborted Wyoming Senate campaign. I'm pretty sure this not is illegal (I could be wrong), but it's dishonest as all hell. It's pretty obvious she was trying to start some "wow, she's really popular!" buzz to bump up her lackluster fundraising. She is her father's daughter, after all.

President Obama severely undermines his own messaging about income inequality by signing the farm bill -- and it's $8.7 billion in food assistance cuts -- into law.

Kansas Republican Pat Roberts doesn't live in Kansas -- despite representing the state in the US Senate.

Finally, Rand Paul has a truly bizarre fascination with that whole Clinton/Lewinski thing. So much so, that he actually thinks it's still an issue.
