Will Santorum Go to Cable?

I'm going to start a new saying, "Old Republicans don't die, they just get gigs on FOX News." First, news leaked out that former Ambassador to the UN John Bolton was shopping himself as a talking head, now we learn that outgoing PA Sen. Rick Santorum's shopping himself as a screaming head.

Santorum has been negotiating a cable deal, which political insiders say most likely is with Fox -- though MSNBC and CNN have been mentioned as well -- "to be a screamer," as one political operative put it.

"You could see that as a pretty easy transition for that guy," said one Republican State Committee official. "He likes to get up and speak."

In that role, Santorum likely would offer insider analysis, much as former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and other pundits do.

If this trend continues, look for Donald Rumsfeld to replace Howie Mandel on Deal or No Deal...
