Operation Rescue:
As popular Fox News host Bill O'Reilly continues to take late-term abortionist George R. Tiller to task on national television, Operation Rescue is asking pro-lifers from across the nation to come Wichita January 20-22, 2007, over the Roe v. Wade memorial weekend, to call national attention to Tiller's horrific child-killing business. In last night’s Talking Points Memo aired during The O'Reilly Factor, O'Reilly told viewers that the situation with Tiller was the worst case he'd seen in 30 years of journalism. "There should be thousands of people protesting outside Tiller’s abortion clinic in Wichita," O'Reilly said.
"We couldn’t agree more with Mr. O'Reilly," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "That is why we are putting out the call for all men and women of conscience to come to Wichita on January 20-22 and send a loud, clear message to America that we will not tolerate Tiller's shameful attacks on the defenseless."
OR was responding to a this comment by Blowhard Bill:
You know, I’ve been covering the news in America for 30 years and this Kansas situation is the worst thing I’ve ever seen…Americans cannot turn away from this; cannot ignore it. There should be thousands of people demonstrating outside Tiller’s abortion clinic in Wichita.
Obviously, when people have the flag of Bill O'Reilly to rally around, he'll get those 'thousands' he's called for. Right?
Associated Press:
Kansas' largest city braced Friday for a possible repeat of massive abortion protests in the wake of Operation Rescue's nationwide call for demonstrations.
But while abortion opponents dubbed the four-day event a "cry for justice," that cry largely fell on deaf ears on Friday afternoon.
Only a few dozen abortion protesters picketed outside the clinic of Dr. George Tiller, one of the few physicians in the nation who performs late-term abortions. Abortion rights supporters, and even the media, at times outnumbered the protesters.
It seems that the average O'Reilly listener is more of an idea man than an action man. Bill's radio show is carried by a Wichita station and I assume they get FOX News -- which means that the vast majority of his audience in Wichita couldn't be bothered to go out and put their money where their mouths are.
You know, maybe this whole 'culture warrior' thing isn't really working out...
