-Teen earns 'Mad Scientist with Doomsday Device' merit badge-
A Michigan boy scout is a step ahead of Iran. "In other words, he built the business end of a hydrogen bomb in his basement." Using materials he bought from eBay, Thiago Olson created a 'star in a jar' or a small flash of plasma putting off two million degrees of heat. Olson explains it's "several times hotter than the core of the sun." President Bush has threatened air strikes. (Discover)
-It's hard to win an election if you're freakin' nuts-
Horseshoe Bend, AR resident Ruth E. Parks sued Mayor Robert Spear, among others, claiming they conspired to stop her re-election. It seems she made some embarrassing statements in testimony in a trial of one of Spear's friends. "Parks testified that she believed in UFOs, and said she had seen one. Her husband testified at the same trial that his wife had been abducted by aliens, and cited a scar on her neck he said was proof of the abduction." Parks argued that a newspaper article reporting their testimony was published to make her look crazy -- despite the fact that she denies none of it. The Eighth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rules she lost fair and square. E.T. could not be reached for comment. (AP)
-I think he might have a drinking problem...-
An Albuerque, NM resident has a hobby that keeps him busy. Unfortunately, it's drinking and driving. Joseph Brill was driving on a revoked license when he was arrested for his 28th DWI charge. In his defense, he probably couldn't walk. According to the report, "deputies saw him park in a driveway in a northeast Albuquerque neighborhood and fall out of his pickup truck Wednesday evening." At least he made it wherever the hell he was going. Brill is being held on a $100,000 bond and faces a possible $5,000 fine, three years in prison, mandatory alcohol treatment and a lifetime driver's license revocation. (AP)
