The Stuff I Didn't Get To -- 3/27/07

-Now they're keeping score by the pound-
It's like Pokemon or something. The latest wave of women's underwear theft in Japan has crossed the Pacific and become an international fad. "A 24-year-old Pullman [WA] man charged with stealing hundreds of pairs of women's underwear has posted bail. Garth Flaherty faces 12 charges of 2nd degree felony burglary and one felony charge of 1st degree theft. Police say they recovered nearly 100lbs of bras and panties from his home and car. " (KREM)

-Gen. Pace's policy on gays in action-
Army recruiter Sgt. Marcia Ramode discovered Corey Andrew's resume on CareerBuilder.com, decided he was Army material, and emailed him about job opportunities in today's military. When he wrote back that he was gay and the military's not exactly welcoming of that, Ramode responded in agreement. Andrew, who is also african-american, received a message that included the following:

GO BACK TO AFRICA AND DO YOUR GAY VOODOO LIMBO TANGO AND WANGO DANCE AND JUMP AROUND AND PRANCE AND RUN ALL OVER THE PLACE HALF NAKED THERE. ... THAT'S WHERE YOU BELONG

"I thought she was absolutely out of her mind," Andrew said. The army is investigating. (CBS/AP)

-John McCain clarifies-
Unlike the attack on John Edwards' 'Second Life' campaign office by a talking turd, a recent prank on John McCain's MySpace page is actually funny. An image was added to the page with text that read, "Today I announce that I have reversed my position and come out in full support of gay marriage…particularly marriage between two passionate females."

According to the report, the McCain campaign used a template designed by Newsvine founder Mike Davidson. The template is free, but requires attribution -- something Team McCain didn't do. They were also using images hosted on Davidson's server. So Davidson replaced one image with another including the statement. (TechCrunch)
