The Stuff I Didn't Get To -- 4/17/07

Offers better news than FOX

-The recipe for idiocy-
I put this study into The Stuff I Didn't Get To yesterday, but E&P found something I missed. The study by Pew Research Center for the People & the Press found, among other things, that viewers of The Daily Show and Colbert Report were among the most informed news consumers -- tying with newspaper readers. But that's not the real fun part -- "Virtually bringing up the rear were regular watchers of Fox News. Only 1 in 3 could answer 2 out of 3 questions correctly. Fox topped only network morning show viewers." It's official, FOX News is worse than a joke. (Editor & Publisher)

-The Ring-
Service providers are taking a hit in Afghanistan as people turn off their cell phones in droves. "There's a strange rumor that if you get a phone call from a strange number, if you hit 'OK' (to answer the phone), blood will come from your nose and ears, and you will die," a taxi driver named Mar told AP as he switched off his own phone. No word on whether a creepy, wet, darkhaired girl crawls out of the phone to get you. (AP)

-Thanks for the boost-
When Nancy Pelosi went to Syria, the right began a fullscale media campaign to paint her as a traitor, an appeaser, and a terrorist sympathizer. The result? Pelosi's polling at 53% -- up three percent since February. One possible answer; 62% disapprove of President Bush. I guess people figure that if you do the exact opposite of what the Republicans -- and Bush in particular -- would do, you're doing the right thing. (Washington Post-ABC News Poll)
