The Stuff I Didn't Get To -- 5/2/07

Lady and the Tramp?

-It doesn't sound like much of a debate-
Seven of ten republican candidates may be left out of a South Carolina republican debate because 'they do not meet the agreed upon terms set by Fox News and the South Carolina Republican Party...' The problem is that they're all polling at about 1% and that's the cut-off point for qualifying. Other reasons would be that they haven't filed as candidates in SC or paid the 'proper fees' for being a candidate. Man, and Tommy Thomspon's and Tom Tancredo's campaigns were really set to take off... (Political Wire)

-Is that supposed to be spelled 'Porkahantas?'-
New Jersey residents woke up tuesday morning, turned on what had always been the Disney Channel, and caught some free porn. Oddly, this didn't make them happy. "We were just sitting here and the screen just froze and then all of a sudden I saw very graphic pornography on the television and I scrambled to get the remote to shut it off," Jennie Sherman said. The company, Comcast, said it was an 'isolated issue in a local New Jersey Facility' and that it was 'immediately detected' and 'corrected promptly.' Maybe so, but not before the Little Mermaid lost her reputation. (CBS4.com)

-The word doesn't mean a damned thing anymore-
Italian comedian Andrea Rivera on the Roman Catholic Church: "The Pope says he doesn't believe in evolution. I agree, in fact the Church has never evolved."

The Vatican's official newspaper on Rivera: "This, too, is terrorism. It's terrorism to launch attacks on the Church. It's terrorism to stoke blind and irrational rage against someone who always speaks in the name of love, love for life and love for man." I'm not really sure who was terrified by her routine, but there ya go. If you're going to be so touchy about people making fun of you, it might be a good idea not to make it so easy. Maybe cut back on the crazy hats or something. (Globe and Mail)
