Practically a documentary
-Concentrating on the stuff that really matters-
Hardball's Chris Matthews on Al Gore: "Do you think, uh, do you think, Jill, he's had cosmetic surgery around the eyes, below the eyes? What do you think? ... You don't want to talk about that one? Everybody's so afraid of that one, but I think there's some work been done. It looks pretty good actually." I don't think it's so much that 'everyone's so afraid of that one,' Chris. I think it's more of a case that no one has any damned reason to care. (Think Progress)
-Headline of the day-
"Pentecostalist refuses to wear pants." (Earth Times)
-La Coca Vita-
Frederico Fellini's film, La Dolce Vita, showed the emptiness behind the fashionable hedonism of wealthy romans in post-WWII Italy. People float around in that film, entertaining themselves with lavish parties, loveless sexual affairs, and general excess as a way to pass the time while the clock runs out on their lives. Apparently, romans haven't changed a lot since 1960.
"Scientists have discovered particles of cocaine and marijuana, as well as caffeine and tobacco, in the air of Italy's capital, they said on Thursday," a wire story reports. "The concentration of cocaine in Rome's atmosphere was only 0.1 nanogrammes (1 nanogramme is one billionth of a gramme) per cubic metre at its height during winter months, the researchers said. But the conclusions were worrying for public health."
