The Stuff I Didn't Get To -- 5/5/07

Hillary Duff on a forklift -- because I found a photo of Hillary Duff on a forklift...

-It sure seems that way-
George W. Bush at the White House Cinco de Mayo ceremony today: "I'm honored to be here with the eternal general of the United States, mi amigo Alberto Gonzales." Geez, do I hope he mispoke... (Think Progress)

-Speaking of misspeaking...-
Fresh off congratulating jews for being good at making money, former Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson had to retract an answer he gave at the first Republican presidential debate. Asked if he thought it was OK for employers to fire people for being gay, Thompson answered yes. Problem is, that's been illegal in WI since 1982 -- the first such law in the nation. In fact, according to former WI legislator David Clarenbach, "As governor, he signed into law more anti-discrimination provisions that protected the rights of gays and lesbians than any governor in Wisconsin history."

Despite this, experts agree that neither remark hurt Thompson's chances to become president in any way. The consensus is that he never had a chance in hell to begin with. (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)

-A chase with speeds in excess of 5 MPH-
Christopher Croston, of Netherton, England, was sentenced to 6 and a half years for a robbery at a business. He and 'ive or six others' locked the security guard in an office and stole office computers. Then came the good part -- "Officers stopped Croston, who was wearing 'a high visibility jacket,' driving the forklift on his way out. They suspected he was intoxicated, but he refused to submit to a breathalyzer test."

The extra good part -- he'd robbed a Rolls Royce dealership and the best escape vehicle he could find was a forklift. (CourtTV)
