The Stuff I Didn't Get To -- 6/4/07

Police Sketch of Rep. Jefferson

-Crime doesn't pay... Not well, anyway-
LA Democratic Representative William Jefferson was indicted today 'on 16 criminal counts including soliciting bribes and paying off a Nigerian official.' 'Dollar Bill' was caught on tape accepting $100,000 from the aforementioned Nigerian official -- $90,000 of which was later found stashed in his freezer.

Seems like a lot of money when you see it all together like that. However, if convicted on all counts, Jefferson could face over 200 years in prison. Do the math, that's less than 500 bucks a year. Being a corrupt congress critter doesn't really seem worth the pay... (Reuters)

-Inside the al Arkansas Martyrs' Brigade-
Dennis Milligan, Chairman of the Arkansas Republican Party: "At the end of the day, I believe fully the president is doing the right thing, and I think all we need is some attacks on American soil like we had on [Sept. 11, 2001]... and the naysayers will come around very quickly to appreciate not only the commitment for President Bush, but the sacrifice that has been made by men and women to protect this country." Why do Republicans hate America? (Raw Story)
