Some don't see it that way. See, that's too simple and obvious. The question all the big fans of the war are asking is, you pull out -- then what? White House Press Secretary Tony Snow told FOX News recently:
To walk out of Iraq right now would plant a seed that ultimately would lead to destabilization there, hundreds of thousands of deaths, loss of our influence in the region, would create instability throughout the Middle East throughout East Asia, throughout Europe.
The problem with this scary scenario is that it's a damned good description of Iraq now. The newest argument in favor of the war is that people who want withdrawal don't have any plan to deal with the violence afterward.
The most obvious answer is that we don't have any plan to deal with the violence there now. If we pull out, will the sectarian civil war in Iraq turn into a sectarian civil war in Iraq or is that a really stupid and redundant question? "I am convinced based on everything I have read it won't be a hell of a lot worse than it is now," Rep. John Murtha told a reporter for the L.A. Times.
In fact, that quote comes from a Times story titled, 'Pullout proposal lacking a Plan B' -- the subheader reads, 'Those who want troops out of Iraq acknowledge that sectarian violence will likely follow.' The problem is that the premise assumes an entirely unrealistic situation -- that Iraq is manageable now, but difficult. That's not the case. Iraq is a failed state and neither we nor the iraqi government have any control over what happens there. Pro-war people get to talk about 'Plans B' when they come up with their own 'Plan A.'
The mistake has already been made. Asking what we'll do about the violence after we leave is like asking how we plan to unmix paint. Worse, it's a way for the pro-war nuts to slough off their own responsibility for this bloodbath and the initial mistakes that brought us to this point. They started this tire fire and now they fault us for having no way to put it out. All you can do with a tire fire is let it burn itself out....

Just pull out. If only my parents had done that. Actually, they probably did, and I was still born. Just like pulling out of a war torn country in which a weak and probably corrupt, but still new and democratic government is fighting terrorist organizations seems like such a good idea when you think about the terrorist safe haven it will spawn into. But hell, what's one more terrorist campground when Pakistan is already providing one, right? I mean, giving Al Quaeda and Hammas free reign over a major oil producing country directly neighboring our other-than-friendly co-existors, Iran, wouldn't be so bad would it? Especially not with Kuwait so close. What is our government thinking? We should leave now and just wait at home for those silly jokesters to find a nuke and drop it on a FUCKING FOOTBALL GAME IN NEW YORK!!! Leaving Iraq in the hands of the untrained ISF would give the terrorist insurgents that entire country to play in, and undoubtedly lead to major attacks on US soil, which, in case you may have failed to notice, will lead to massive civilian casualties. If you would like to deny the responsibility of our government and military to disable known terrorist organizations that have already proven they can orchestrate attacks on our country then you should probably keep on taking whatever it is that you're on, because it is a soveriegn government's INNATE OBLIGATION to provide protection for its people.
And, of course, you're speaking as someone who's been there, right? Someone who's seen the smiling faces of the Iraqi children that recognize the uniform of the military that took away their fear of random murders from a psychotic mad man, right? And you know what its like to be a parent in that country, knowing that it can all happen again if the terrorists manage to take over, right? I mean, stop me when I start listing off falsehoods. Your understanding of what Iraq is right now MUST be a first hand, eye-witness description, right? I mean, any informed person certainly wouldn't rely on a ratings-reliant media to accurately report ALL the facts, right? So when you want to tell the FREE-IRAQI-GOVERNMENT supporters to provide a Plan A before asking your Dem's for a Plan B, understand that our Plan A is in effect, and even though it's taking a lot longer to fully enact, we're fixing the problem over there, not just the symptoms.
P.S. As much as I do agree with all that, I really just wanted to start another debate with the guy that wants to say I support rape.
