The Stuff I Didn't Get To -- 7/25/07

Prescott Bush's vision realized

-Man, did that ever take a long time-
BBC's Radio 4 reports that they've uncovered a historical plot by George W. Bush's grandfather, Prescott Bush, and other post-industrial movers and shakers to drastically change US government through a coup d'état.

"The coup was aimed at toppling President Franklin D Roosevelt with the help of half-a-million war veterans," the website reads. "The plotters, who were alleged to involve some of the most famous families in America, (owners of Heinz, Birds Eye, Goodtea, Maxwell Hse & George Bush's Grandfather, Prescott) believed that their country should adopt the policies of Hitler and Mussolini to beat the great depression."

It shows how persistence can really pay off, doesn't it? (BBC)

-Everyone's a media critic-
According to reports, 11 year old Caitie Traylor of Canal Winchester, OH 'thinks the media give too much exposure to "people who are in jail for dumb reasons".' She's right of course, but if the media took her advice, my roundup would be a lot shorter. (Columbus Dispatch)
