The Stuff I Didn't Get To -- 8/24/07

President Bush
Described by scientists as a "tremendous hole in the universe"

-Ba-resuku, desu ka?-
(trans.; "This is the strip club, right?") After being denied a liquor license for his Little Tokyo Showgirls topless nightclub in L.A., owner Moe Ahmadi announced that his club would go full nude. State law allows topless bars to serve alcohol, while full strip joints can't -- so no booze, no clothes. Seems logical enough to me.

Amahdi's lawyer said that the license was denied because city officials didn't want a nudie bar in the area. Fukui Mortuary and Nishi Hongwanji Temple also opposed the club.

One of the stupider objections came from an LAPD officer who said that "the establishment is close to the Men's Central Jail and that inmates being released could just walk to the club." So strip club in the neighborhood -- bad. Newly released criminals wandering the streets -- just fine. (KNBC)

-Headline of the day-
"In obscenity-laced tirade, Ted Nugent jokes of killing Obama, calls Clinton a 'bitch.'" He's going to be the future Governor of Michigan? I have my doubts... (Raw Story)

-That's a whole lot of nuthin'-
Astronomers for the University of Minnesota have discovered what's described as a "tremendous hole in the universe" and "1 billion light years across of nothing." The universe is believed to be mostly empty anyway, but this is the biggest expanse of unoccupied space ever discovered.

Asked if researchers had aimed their telescope between the ears of a certain White House occupant, they declined to answer, citing concerns about further funding. (AP)
