Not just for salads anymore
-Todays WTF?-
Not Gay Sen. Larry Craig's supporters continue to crawl out of the woodwork and, like Not Corrupt former Rep. Tom DeLay, they all continue to be freakin' crazy. The latest is Washington-based "The Battle Ground" -- a property rights group -- who are calling for a boycott of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul Airport. TBG says the police who busted Craig "are responsible for weakening private property rights in the West."
Responsible for what in the who now? How does that make any damned sense at all? Two problems; one, that doesn't make any damned sense at all and, two, since when are the Twin Cities "the west?" For that matter, how the hell do you boycott an airport and since when is getting a blowjob in a public restroom a matter of private property rights -- did Craig buy the stall?
More proof that there is no argument too crazy for someone on the right to make. (Seattle PI)
-Headline of the day-
"Craig Still 'Expects to Resign' From Senate, Spokesman Says." OK, now he's just screwing with our heads... (Bloomberg)
-Not an exorcism-
Edgewater, FL city councilwoman Debra Rogers won't face charges for performing an exorcism on her teenage daughter. In the initial report, "Investigators said the couple admitted they tried to exorcise the demons out of their daughter by pouring olive oil on her while they held her hands behind her back on June 27. Their attorney said the Edgewater councilwoman and her husband are innocent."
In a later report, the 911 tape was released, where the teen's sister called the cops on her mom, who seemed to be the one in need of exorcism:
911 Operator: "I need you to calm down a little bit, so I can understand what you're saying. Has she hit anyone?"
Caller: "Yes. She's hit my dad in the eye and she's hit him in the side. She's been scratching me and everything. There's oil in my hair because she's been throwing oil around."
And now, "The State Attorney's Office said there is not enough evidence to charge Debra Jean Rogers and her husband with a crime," according to the report. How much evidence do you freakin' need?
The whole thing stinks of a coverup. According to Talk2Action, "Dominionist neopentecostal groups--in particular, the Assemblies of God--like to use 'annointing' with oil (doesn't have to be olive oil--it can be common Wesson oil, and frequently is) as a form of "territorial marking" to 'name and claim' a person--or object--as 'theirs'. (Infamously, an Assemblies of God pastor attempted to 'name and claim' the entire Senate in such a manner--essentially attempting to hex the entire chambers in the name of Christ to vote for Samuel Alito as Supreme Court justice; members of New Life Church (the former congregation of Ted Haggard) infamously tried to 'name and claim' an entire city block in Colorado Springs in this manner with a 5-gallon sprayer filled with Wesson oil.) It's a surprisingly common practice, especially among Joel's Army neopente dominionists who have a very heavy emphasis on 'naming and claiming' all manner of 'territory' including in the literal sense."
In other words, Debra Rogers is a right wing religious lunatic in public office. And the Florida Attorney General, Bill McCollum, is a Republican. Mystery over. (WFTV.com)
