Got your attention now? Yeah, I thought so.
The world is in a global hops shortage, due to drought in Australia, hail storms in Europe, and a heat wave in the western US. Beer prices are expected to rise as a result -- in some cases, drastically. Still think GW's no big deal? Try dealing with record heat without a tall cool one to knock back. Is that the sort of world you want to leave your children? Won't someone please think of the children?

-Who Would Jesus Waste His Time On?-
Members of the Southland Christian Church in Lexington, KY are being asked to "send letters of love and support to troubled pop star Britney Spears" by a pastor who says the pop star has made "devastating life choices."
"If she were your next-door neighbor in the same situation without the money and success, wouldn't you care about her problems?" asks pastor John Weece. "Wouldn't you pray for her and offer her support and encouragement?"
Here's the thing; while I don't have any actual proof, I think that there just might be some actual neighbors in Lexington who are in the same situation, without all the money and success. Seems to me they might be in a slightly worse position to handle their problems than Britney Freakin' Spears.
Of course, that's complete speculation. Lexington, KY may just have solved every damned problem there is in their fair city, freeing them up to worry about the problems of poor little rich girls. I kinda doubt it though... (USA Today)
-Headline of the day-
"Arnold Schwarzenegger says marijuana is not a drug, 'it's a leaf'." The comment had to do with a GQ interview where he said he'd never taken drugs. The problem is that a 1977 documentary, Pumping Iron, featured the future Gubernator smoking a joint and acknowledging using pot. So it's not a drug, it's a leaf.
