Take the money and run
-Getting the identity theft vote-
GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul's campaign has returned some $3,000 in donations after it was shown that it came from stolen credit cards. According to the report, "Investigators at Frost Bank discovered that the stolen cards were being used to make $5 contributions to the Paul campaign, in an apparent attempt to test the cards."
All in all, the bank "refunded money from nearly 100 customers and canceled all 500 of the credit cards that had been stolen from the bank." Considering that Paul raised $4.2 million in the same fundraising appeal, it's pretty clear the loss won't hurt him any.
In related news, Roll Call reports that Paul "maintains a 'shoestring grass-roots political operation'" despite all this newly acquired lucre and that "Paul's kitchen cabinet of advisers is virtually bare. The way the Libertarian sees it, he wouldn't have it any other way."
Kind of makes you wonder what all that fundraising was for... (CBS News, Raw Story)
-Headline of the day-
"Debt Collector to Customer: 'Dear Sh*t Face'." That was the opening from collection letter to a NY man over a $16.39 debt to Columbia House.
Turns out that people who work at collection agencies are real pricks. Who knew? (ABC News)
-Polling you can use-
George W. Bush has topped out his unpopularity in a recent Harris Poll, ranking 56 on the organization's "Alienation Index" -- the highest of his term.
Maybe the White House can take comfort in the fact that, although last year 66.9% actually found the president annoying, as of this week only 47.15% feel this way. You know how I voted... (AmIAnnoying.com)
