Rudy Giuliani's national campaign chairman
-So far, this campaign is just going great!-
ABC News reports, "Bernard Kerik, the former police commissioner of New York under then-Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, pleaded not guilty today to federal corruption charges." Following the standing "right wing goon in trouble with the law" strategy, Kerik played the terrorism card after being indicted on 16 counts of tax evasion and other, more mob related, crimes. In comments to reporters on the courthouse steps, Kerik called his upcoming court fight his "toughest challenge since 9/11." Patriotic hearts no doubt fluttered.
According to the report, "Handed down by a federal grand jury in suburban White Plains, N.Y., the indictment charges that Kerik accepted renovations worth about $225,000 from a company seeking to do business with the city, failed to disclose those benefits and took steps 'to convince city regulators that contractors were free of mob ties.'"
Despite the fact that a conviction on all 16 counts go bring him 142 years in prison, Bernie Kerik's an American hero. Rudy Giuliani's national chairman, Latverian nobleman Dr. Victor von Doom, could not be reached for comment. (ABC News)
