One way to change history
-It's not like history is set in stone-
The Wikipedia entry for 2003 invasion of Iraq was heavily edited today to better reflect the bias of the editor. Among the changes, one helluva lot of transposition of things alleged to things not alleged and vice-versa.
In on case, "An alleged link between al Qaeda and Iraq was often mentioned in the run-up to war. Before the invasion, journalists were generally skeptical; for example, one January 2003 article in the San Jose Mercury News said the claim 'stretches the analysis of U.S. intelligence agencies to, and perhaps beyond, the limit.' [Mercury News] " was changed to:
Links between al Qaeda and Iraq were often mentioned in the run-up to war. Before the invasion, journalists were generally skeptical -- an about-face from years prior when the media generally trumpeted Iraq / al Qaeda connections.
Nice of them to change "link... was" to "links... were" while they were slicing out sourced material and replacing it with unsourced claims. Grammar is important. More fun:
It was eventually shown that, while representatives of Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda had indeed met, an operational relationship was never realized and there was a deep sense of mistrust and dislike of one another. Osama Bin Laden was shown to view Iraq's ruling Ba'ath party as running contrary to his religion, calling it an "apostate regime." A British intelligence report [BBC] went so far as to say of Bin Laden "His aims are in ideological conflict with present day Iraq."
In this, the first line was changed to read, "It was alleged by some..." and the paragraph appended with, "This of course does not disprove a relationship aimed at bringing harm to the United States."
Of course, it doesn't disprove that monkeys are about to fly out that editor's butt, either.
So who is the editor? No one can really say. The only signature they left behind was an IP addie -- 143.231.249.141 -- which turns out to be "Information Systems U.S. House of Representatives."
The smart money's betting it's a Republican. (Wikipedia, via reddit)
-This pose is called "Leg Reclining Lunge." And this one's "You're Going to Hell, Jerk"-
I don't know how to start this one, other than ask, "WTF?" From Huffington Post:
Wednesday's "700 Club" featured a question about the Christian view of yoga. A concerned viewer asked, "Does it really have its origins in evil?" Pat Robertson gave the verdict: Yes! According to Pat, stretching is fine, but by repeating common yoga mantras, you are actually praying to Hindu gods Vishnu and Krishna and you're not even aware of it! Check out the clip below and tell us what you think. Is it wrong for Christians to practice yoga?
Actually, if you're praying and you're "not even aware of it," how is it praying? Video here. (Huffington Post, via Evangelical Right)
