Rudy prays for a big ol' pallet-load of money
-He must be a Bush Republican-
Here you thought you were done with Rudy Giuliani news. Ha! Think again.
Rudy's one-state-strategy may not have worked as well as he would've liked, but it sure as hell cost a lot. The New York Times snagged an internal email from John Gross, Rudy's campaign treasurer, which shows that, although the dream is dead, the bills live on.
"We are deeper in the hole than I thought we would be," Gross writes. "Windown [sic] is likely to be less than projected, but travel expenses are higher. We cannot prefer any one creditor. We probably could make a 10% payment to all qualified creditors at this point, but probably not much more."
Wow, Rudy Giuliani, broke and busted, down and out. Don't let anyone tell you that dreams can't come true. (Raw Story)
-Obama screws up!-
Yikes! Barack Obama made a big appearance last night at the Kohl Center Arena right here in Madison. They're still trying to clean up all the Hope and Inspiration he left all over the place.
But he started off kind of weak, beginning by forgetting where he was. "This is how you guys do it in . . . Madison?" he faltered. He also screwed up our Mayor's name, thanking "Mayor Dave Cheslovsky" and, realizing his mistake, "Mayor Chesslivix" -- which wasn't any more correct.
The Mayor's name is Cieslewicz. Yeah, you wouldn't do any better. We all just call him "Mayor Dave." It's easier for everyone that way. Mister Mxyzptlk could not be reached for comment. (The Capital Times)
-Getting down to the people's business-
The US House of Representatives is where really important stuff happens. The economy, the war in Iraq, these "High Crimes and Misdemeanors" thing people have been talking about, terrorism, crime, poverty, global warming, etc. are all problems that are worked out here.
Good news! There are indications that all of these problems have been solved and now the House can afford to dick around with trivial crap. According to the report, "Not even a week and a half after the New York Giants shocked the world by beating the once-invincible Patriots, the House leadership is bringing a congratulatory bill to the floor tonight." The bill has 60 cosponsors. Once they get this important bill passed, they already have an equally important matter to consider -- a bill to "to redesignate the Museum of the American Quilters Society in Paducah, Ky., as the 'National Quilt Museum of the United States.'"
Today's Congress, folks. Watching out for you. (Examiner)
