The Stuff I Didn't Get To -- 2/15/08

Ted Nugent's 'Cat Scratch Fever'
Typical Huckabee endorser

-Boston (the band) does not heart Huckabee-
"I think I've been ripped off, dude!" says Boston founder and songwriter Tom Scholz. According to the report, "In a letter to the Republican presidential hopeful, Tom Scholz complains that Huckabee is using his 1970s smash hit song 'More Than a Feeling' without his permission. A former member of the band, Barry Goudreau, has appeared with Huckabee at campaign events, and they have played the song with Huckabee's band, Capitol Offense." Scholz, a sort of electronics wizard and super-producer, basically is Boston and supports Obama.

The Huckacampaign's response to Scholz's complaint is dismissive. "Governor Huckabee plays 'Sweet Home Alabama.' Does that mean Lynyrd Skynyrd is endorsing him? He plays 'Louie Louie.' Does that mean The Kingsmen are endorsing him? To me, it's ridiculous," says New Hampshire Campaign chair Fred Bramante. "Never once has he said, 'The band Boston endorses me.'"

The thing is, Ted Nugent does endorse Mike. The problem there is that Ted's songs tend not to be very inspiring. Give a big speech about Jesus and the Ten Commandments and then blast Wango Tango from the PA? Yeah, that's not going to work.

So Boston it is. (AP)

-It's just a coincidence-
Faced with a wave of Obama primary victories, Hillary Clinton is making a stand in Texas. In fact, former Bill Clinton-campaign sorcerer James Carville says that if Hillary loses Ohio or Texas, "This thing is done."

An American Research Group poll puts Obama ahead in the Lone Star State -- 48% to 42%. The headline was what caught my eye -- "ARG Poll: Obama Leads in Texas." The Clinton campaign's response to the poll?

ARG!! (Political Wire)

-Today's FREAK THE FUCK OUT! brought to you by "White House Residents for John McCain"-
Israel has killed a Hezbollah commander -- something they seem to do about three times a year. In response, the feds are getting people to freak the fuck out! According to the report, "The FBI has put its domestic terror squads on the alert for any threats against synagogues and other potential Jewish targets in the United States following the killing of a Hezbollah commander."

Remember the last time that a Hezbollah leader was killed and synagogues around the country were in flames? Ok, so it didn't happen. But that's no reason not to freak the fuck out! Surely, there's some reason why this time it's different, why this time we need to be on the lookout, right?

The report goes on to tell us "there have been no specific threats so far against any Jewish centers."

But that's no reason not to freak the fuck out! We've got an election... I mean, a Global War on Terror to win. Be afraid, vigilant, and don't forget to vote for John McCain. If anyone else is elected, the terrorists have won. (AP)
