The Stuff I Didn't Get To -- 3/21/08

Obama and Richardson

-Good news?-
Barack Obama locked up the endorsement of former presidential rival and New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson today. The question; is that good news or bad news for Obama?

Take a look at the photo of Bill's new beard. Possible FOX News headline: "Satan(D-NM) Endorses Obama."

Think they wouldn't do it? (AFP)

-What's good for the goose...-
...is apparently not good for the gander. On news that all of the presidential candidates passport records had been accessed without authorization, John McCain had this to say, "If anyone's privacy has been breached, they are owed an apology and an investigation."

Of course, it was just last month that McCain was all bent out of shape because Congress wouldn't give amnesty to telecoms for illegal wiretapping. "Should companies who are believed to have helped us after 9/11 till today, get information necessary to protect the country be sued?" McCain asked. "My answer is absolutely not, they shouldn't be sued."

So it's a terrible, terrible thing when it happens to you, John, but when it happens to ordinary Americans, they can just shut up and swallow. No investigation for you, Mr. Lowly Citizen. Is that about the size of it, John?

John McCain; never one to let consistency get in the way of ideology. (Bloomberg)

-Headline of the day-
"Bush erroneously says Iran announced desire for nuclear weapons."

This isn't the HotD because Bush lied. The President lies a dozen times before breakfast just for the practice.

No, this is the HotD because it was reported as being a lie. Can you imagine how much crap we could've avoided if every news outlet actually bothered to look into -- gasp -- facts?

Good on McClatchy Newspapers. (McClatchy)
