The Stuff I Didn't Get To -- 4/3/08

Douglas Feith
Doug Feith, noted asshole, discusses the finer points of assholery

-Headline of the day-
"Feith: Only 'Assholes' Fret about Torture."

That'd be Bush Whitehouser Doug Feith, neocon extraordinaire and noted asshole. In an interview for an article in Vanity Fair (which I referenced earlier today), Feith was asked "whether, in the end, he was at all concerned that the [decision to remove Geneva protections from terrorist suspects] might have diminished America’s moral authority." Feith didn't like that.

"The problem with moral authority,” he said, was “people who should know better, like yourself, siding with the assholes, to put it crudely."

Hey asshole, I don't think the interviewer was taking your side. (TPMMuckraker)

-I don't get it-
During what was supposed to be a standup routine, Air America Radio host Randi Rhodes got in a little trouble for one of the jokes.

"What a whore Geraldine Ferraro is! She's such a fucking whore!" Rhodes said. "Hillary is a big fucking whore, too... You know why she's a big fucking whore? Because her deal is always, 'Read the fine print, asshole!'"

Umm, how does that make her a whore?

Video that's made YouTube puts Rhodes' future with the network in question. "Air America has suspended on-air host Randi Rhodes for making inappropriate statements about prominent figures, including Senator Hillary Clinton, at a recent public appearance on behalf of Air America in San Francisco which was sponsored by an Air America affiliate station," AAR said in a statement.

Whether this is permanent or not is unclear. But if anyone can explain that punchline to me, I'd really appreciate it. (Raw Story -- which has video, NYT)

-OK, now this one I get-
McCain backer Sen. Lindsey Graham cracked wise in an online article for ABC News, saying that McCain had done more about global warming than some liberal poser who's scammed the Nobel Committee into giving him a medallion.

"Climate change is the road less traveled but he’s traveled it even more than Al Gore," Lindsey said. "Al Gore has talked about it and deserves great recognition but he was around here a long time and never introduced a bill."

Gore held the first-ever congressional hearings on climate change back in the '70s and helped bring about the Kyoto Protocol. I see what Lindsey's doing here, it's absurdism. He's saying the exact opposite of what's true -- the old switcheroo. What a card...

Seriously though, McCain blows. (Think Progress)
